Steam Carry Blue Team to All-Star Win

The Steam had an impressive showing on Wednesday in Avon, OH at the 2012 Great Lakes League All Star Game.

Parker Wormsley led the way offensively for the Steam, going 2-2 with a 2b, 2 runs scored, and an RBI.  Somehow this didn’t result in him receiving the All Star MVP despite being the best offensive performance of any player that night.  Josh Ungerbuehler also had a great night at the plate going 1-1 with a walk, an RBI, and 2 runs scored.  Jake Madsen also contributed to the win with an RBI double to give the Blue team its first run.  Matt Williams was 0-2 at the plate, but made a couple nice plays in the field.

On the mound, the Steam made a strong contribution as well.  Matt Jefferson threw a scoreless inning of relief striking out one.  Ryan Martin also threw a scoreless inning of relief.  Neither Steam pitcher allowed a hitter to reach base over the course of their inning pitched.

The Steam currently sit in 2nd place, just a half game out of first place.  Action resumes after the All Star Break on Friday as the Steam travel to Celina, OH to take on Grand Lake.  The Steam return home on Sunday for a doubleheader against the Lake Erie Monarchs.  First pitch is scheduled for 1:05.
